New York Knicks radio analyst Monica McNutt has apologized after questioning Taylor Swift’s loyalty to the franchise during Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

McNutt addressed the controversy in an interview with TMZ on June 11, days after a comment she made about the singer went viral on social media. While spotting Swift seated in celebrity row during the Knicks’ comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs, McNutt said, “She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl.”

The remark quickly sparked backlash from Swift’s fans, many of whom pointed to the singer’s documented ties to the team and previous appearances connected to the franchise.

Speaking to TMZ, McNutt explained that her assessment was based on her own experience covering Knicks games throughout the season. She said she had not seen Swift at Madison Square Garden during the campaign despite regularly monitoring celebrity row.

McNutt stood by her initial reasoning but acknowledged that she had since learned more about Swift’s connection to the organization. She said she discovered that the singer owns an old Amar’e Stoudemire Knicks jersey and admitted she was mistaken in questioning Swift’s fandom.

McNutt also cited other factors that influenced her opinion and said she misspoke. Although she expected the comment to generate attention online, she said the focus during the game remained on the Knicks’ historic comeback win.

The apology came as debate surrounding Swift’s presence courtside continued across social media platforms, with fans defending her longstanding association with the team.

Amar’e Stoudemire says Taylor Swift’s Knicks connection goes back years

Former New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire has now publicly backed Taylor Swift amid the discussion over her franchise fandom.

In an interview with TMZ Sports published on June 13, Stoudemire said Swift’s support for the Knicks dates back to his playing days in New York. The former NBA All-Star dismissed suggestions that her association with the franchise is recent or superficial.

Stoudemire recalled spending time with Swift roughly a decade ago, including helping her dunk a basketball on a Knicks court. He said the interaction was more than a publicity appearance and noted that he also spent time with members of her family.

The former forward also referenced crossing paths with Swift at the Met Gala in later years, highlighting a relationship that extended beyond their initial meeting.

His comments arrived shortly after McNutt publicly corrected her earlier remarks. Stoudemire’s account added to the evidence cited by fans who have pointed to Swift’s previous Knicks connections, including her ownership of a jersey from his tenure with the franchise.

The debate intensified after Swift attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Still, both McNutt’s apology and Stoudemire’s comments have reinforced the singer’s established ties to the Knicks organization.
