Taylor Swift sits apart from Brittany Mahomes at Chiefs-Ravens game amid Donald Trump’s viral praise and political divide

Last season, the duo of Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes had become inseparable at games of the Kansas City Chiefs. For fans who had trouble finding out where the pop star was seated, all they had to do was find the wife of Patrick Mahomes, as Swift was always seated right beside her. This year, things are likely to be different owing to political preferences.
On the opening night game at Arrowhead Stadium between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens, both Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift were in attendance to show their support for Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, respectively. This time, however, the supposedly best friends were not seated together. They were seen sitting in different suites, and the reason might be Mahomes’ recent pro-Trump stance.
Brittany recently liked an Instagram post from Donald Trump‘s campaign, resulting in fans interpreting her to be a supporter of the former President. She was quick to unlike the post but the damage was done. The post in question featured the objectives of the Trump campaign and had lines such as “seal the border,” “keep men out of women’s sports,” and “carry out the largest deportation in American history.”

This is a big deal for Taylor Swift and her image, as she has tried her best to stay out of the elections this time. The 14-time Grammy Awardee has not endorsed either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, but she has merely urged her fanbase to go out there and vote. By being close to Brittany Mahomes and sitting alongside her every weekend, it can easily be perceived that Swift may share the same political ideologies as her and have similar preferences.
Based on her past political preferences, Taylor Swift has never been a fan of Donald Trump, despite the former President expressing a liking for her music. In 2016, Swift endorsed Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the midterm elections in the state of Tennessee.
As a result, Taylor Swift opted to sit with Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis Kelce, whereas Brittany Mahomes sat in a different suite with her daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes. The decision to sit separately in public may have been a strong suggestion from Swift’s managers and public relations team. Shortly after Brittany liked the pro-Trump post on Instagram, fans of Taylor Swift began to go at her and criticize her for the same.
Mahomes lashed out at the critics and called them ‘haters’ whose brain was not fully developed. The political preferences of an individual are a personal choice. Even though two individuals with differing political views can still be good friends, the position that Taylor Swift occupies publicly puts her at risk of being misunderstood and portrayed differently.
Another reason for Swift to distance herself could be due to Donald Trump’s reply to Brittany Mahomes, wherein he thanked her for defending him and showing her support for his MAGA campaign. This seems to be the possible reason that Brittany and Taylor were not seated together.
