- Team India will play 14 matches in June and July following IPL 2026, starting with a Test against Afghanistan on June 6.
- The schedule includes three ODIs against Afghanistan and a two-match T20I series in Ireland.
- India will then embark on a white-ball tour in England, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs.
After the conclusion of IPL 2026, the Indian men’s cricket team will begin an intense two-month period in which they are scheduled to play a total of 14 matches. This marks India’s first overseas trip following their recent success in winning the 2026 T20 World Cup.
2026 has been a highly successful year for Indian cricket, with the T20I side becoming the first nation to win the T20 WC thrice, as well as the first to defend it. Suryakumar Yadav and Co., in a sheer display of dominance, defeated New Zealand in the final played in Ahmedabad. Despite this later success, the Men in Blue had earlier in the year suffered a historic 1-2 ODI series defeat against New Zealand at home.

All Team India players have now joined their respective IPL franchises for the pre-season camps, before the tournament begins on March 28.
The IPL is set to run until May 31, with reports suggesting that the upcoming season might feature a total of 84 matches. The 2026 season has already been hit by what many are describing as an ‘injury wave’, with pacers Harshit Rana and Akash Deep already ruled out.
Immediately after the IPL season ends, the Men in Blue will play a Test match against Afghanistan at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, starting June 6. Shubman Gill will return to captain the Indian red-ball side. India will then play the Afghans in three ODIs, with the matches scheduled for Dharamshala (June 14), Lucknow (June 17), and Chennai (June 20). The team will then travel to Europe for a new challenge.
Upon Cricket Ireland’s insistence, the BCCI decided to add a two-match T20I series to its calendar. India will travel to Belfast for the two matches, scheduled for June 26 and June 28. The Men in Blue will then head to England for an intensive white-ball tour, beginning with five T20Is, in Chester-le-Street (July 1), Manchester (July 4), Nottingham (July 7), Bristol (July 9), and Southampton (July 11). It will be followed by three ODIs, to be played in Birmingham (July 14), Cardiff (July 16), and London (July 19).

Akash Deep to miss IPL 2026 with injury, participation in India-Afghanistan Test uncertain
Kolkata Knight Riders’ injury woes seem to have intensified, after the franchise confirmed that new recruit Akash Deep has been ruled out of IPL 2026. The 29-year-old did not report for KKR’s pre-season camp and is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a suspected back injury.

Akash Deep was last seen in action, playing for Bengal during the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy semi-final against Jammu and Kashmir. He has since then been at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, recovering from a reported stress reaction on his lower back. A source close to the player detailed that it might take anywhere between 8 and 12 weeks for the pacer to be fully fit and return to action.

The 29-year-old’s injury might also keep him out of the Indian red-ball side, which will begin its 2026 campaign with a one-off Test match against Afghanistan. He last played for the Men in Blue during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Injuries have always plagued Akash Deep’s career, with him having only featured in 14 matches in the IPL over the last four seasons, since he made his debut in 2022.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep is the fourth KKR pacer to be unavailable for the season. Their troubles began after Mustafizur Rahman was released, followed by injuries to Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana, with the latter still awaiting clearance.
