Alexander Zverev claimed his 11th consecutive victory on Sunday, as he lifted the Cincinnati Masters title. The German defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets to continue his winning run. Zverev played his first American hard court tournament in Cincinnati, after he claimed the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics.

Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, popularly known as the ‘Big Three’ players are probably in the last part of their respective careers. However, Alexander Zverev believes that there is a lot more to come from the three greats of the game. Novak Djokovic has not played a single tournament since the Tokyo Olympics, but he is expected to be a part of the US Open which commences next week.

Novak Djokovic will enter the US Open as the top seed, and will look forward to clinching his fourth title at the Flushing Meadows. The Serbian has won all three Grandslam titles this year, and narrowly missed out on a medal at Tokyo Olympics.

Alexander Zverev believes that Novak Djokovic is still the favorite to win the US Open this year. On the other hand, both, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have pulled out of the last major of the year owing to respective injuries. Rafael Nadal has been struggling with recurrent foot injuries which has seen him cut his 2021 season short. However, the German believes that the duo will make a strong comeback post their injuries in the coming year.

Novak is still World No. 1, he will be the favorite at the US Open. Rafa is still top 10. After the injury comeback, they’re going to come back even stronger,” said Zverev.

As for Alexander Zverev, he finished as the runner-up at the US Open last year, after he lost a five set thriller to Dominic Thiem in the finals.
