REVEALED! Alexander Zverev’s Path to Claim his First US Open title

Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev is in tremendous form and will be playing at US Open 2021 after clinching the title at Cincinnati Masters. He had beaten Russian, Andrey Rublev in straight sets with the score line of 6-2, 6-3.

Zverev was a gold medalist in men’s singles at the Tokyo Olympics this year. He had beaten the favorite and the top seed, Novak Djokovic in the semi finals of the tournament. The German made a tremendous comeback from being a set and a break down to win the match. The score line of the match was 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. After winning against the Serbian, world number 5 made short work of Pablo Carreno Busta in the finals as he had beaten the Spaniard with the score line of 6-3, 6-3.

Zverev has performed extremely well in the ATP events but unfortunately, he is not able to replicate the same success when he plays in a grand slam. Many people think that the world number 4 has a tendency to “choke” at pressure situations at the mega events but the win against Djokovic at the Olympics should give him some confidence ahead of the US Open.

The German had reached his maiden grand slam final in the US Open 2020 after going down to Dominic Thiem in a 5 set thriller with the score line of 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6. Zverev’s precise and powerful backhands are his main strength as sometimes the opponents are taken off guard. He is on a 11 match winning streak and therefore it will be interesting to see how far he can go here in New York.
