Rafael Nadal stepped further into the path of being the first among the big three to grab the 21’st grand slam, finally after prevailing over the Italian tennis player, Matteo Berrettini ( 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 ) to enter the finals of Australian Open 2022 against Daniil Medvedev in the Rod Laver Arena, who has proven his strength and endurance during the tournament. This is the young Russian’s big chance of taking his second grand slam in the coming showdown.

“It is inevitable that any tournament that doesn’t have Roger Federer, is going to miss him,” said Henman on Eurosport about the Swiss 20 grand slam winner, Roger Federer who unfortunately couldn’t take part in the recent tournaments due to his recurring knee injury for which he had to undergo surgery before the US Open. He had also informed that, for the sake of his recovery, he wouldn’t participate in the coming Wimbleton tournament either. However, Henman says that Federer is following the scores of the tournament.

In 2021, the 35-year-old went through a rough phase where he injured his foot so bad that he thought he might not be able to recover completely, hence never playing pro again. But Nadal overcame his hurdles, took treatment, and with the help of his team, returned once again to the main stage. Now, Rafa is the closest among Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to reach the goal of 21 grand slams, which he never anticipated would happen after his injury.

Tim Henman revealed that he has been in contact with Federer and has exchanged messages regarding the current situation in the tennis world. “Fingers crossed his rehabilitation is going well, and instead of him watching tennis, we can watch him back on the court,” says the retired British player. Henman continued, “No one knows if and when Federer will be back. I am sure he will be working incredibly hard, but it is slightly pointless speculating.”

“He has always been extremely popular wherever he has played as one of the most successful male players of all time,” says Henman. Even though the 40-year-old is not playing current, his fans still hold on to the dream and wait for the day Federer comes back to the field and takes his next grand slam. “We would love to see Federer back on the court, but there is still a great group of male and female players out there.”

“It is obviously challenging. It is not getting any easier at his age, but I for one would love to see him back on the court. It is obviously challenging. It is not getting any easier at his age, but I for one would love to see him back on the court.” By the time he returns, he would be 41, making it even harder for a comeback. Even former tennis legend, John McEnroe accepts the fact that it might be hard for the Swiss to come back and cross Nadal.
