“We get along really well,” Ashleigh Barty on her relationship with Iga Swiatek after cruising into the third round at US Open 2021

Ashleigh Barty stormed into the third round of US Open 2021 with a thumping victory over Clara Tauson of Denmark in the second round. The top seed is among the top contenders to win the title at Flushing Meadows, following her dominant performances at Cincinnati Open.
Ashleigh Barty was delighted after her second round victory, despite a few slip-ups in the second set. Speaking in the post-match press conference, Barty reflected on her second round win, and gave her thoughts on how she had played.
“Today was tricky, I had to navigate through the second set, and just trust myself, but I am happy moving into the third round with some work to be done,” said Barty.
Ashleigh Barty was seen practicing with French Open 2020 champion, Iga Swiatek on the first day of US Open 2021, and the duo shared the practice court again before their respective second round matches. Barty reflected on her relationship with the Pole, and stated that the two get along well.

Ashleigh Barty revealed that she gets along with Iga Swiatek’s team, which is the reason why they are seen practicing together. “We practiced with Iga Swiatek on Monday, we are obviously good friends, we get along well with each other, and we have a pretty relaxed kind of relationship,” said Barty.
“When we hit, we go hard and when we practice, we play well. When we are off-court, it’s pretty cool, we get along and have similar interests. We warmed up together this morning, she was a little bit stuck with some of the changes, and she jumped out and hit,” said Barty.
Ashleigh Barty will next clash against the home favorite, Shelby Rogers in the third round of US Open 2021. The Australian is probably in the form of her life in the past few months, having won the Wimbledon and Cincinnati Open. Going on her current form, it looks improbable that Shelby Rogers would defeat the top seed.
