Jannik Sinner vs Arthur Rinderknech: Match Preview
Not a lot of people will question the statement that the nineteen year old Jannik Sinner is the ‘next big thing’ in tennis. The Italian has through his performances proved that he is here for the long haul. After a great end to the hard court stretch, where he reached the Finals of the Miami Open, expectations were high from Sinner on clay. Sinner has done very well in one tournament on clay, the Barcelona Open. At Barcelona he reached the Semi-finals only to be beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas at that stage.
In the rest of the tournaments, he has not done that well. Actually he has been thin on a bit of luck as well. At Monte Carlo he lost to Novak Djokovic in the second round, and at Madrid he lost to Rafael Nadal at the same stage. In the first round here, he has beaten the in-form Aslan Karatsev In three sets, 0-6 6-3 6-4. In the second round he will face Qualifier Arthur Rinderknech.
Twenty-five year old Frenchman Rinderknech has not yet won any ATP trophies. He made his debut on the ATP Tour in March 2021, at the Open 123 in Marseille, and in his very first tournament went from qualifying till the Quarter Finals of the event. Here, he again qualified into the main draw. In the first round he beat World No. 101 Mikael Ymer of Sweden in three sets 6-3 6-76-2.
Jannik Sinner vs Arthur Rinderknech: Head-to-Head
This will be the first meeting between these two players, so the head to head stands at 0-0.
Jannik Sinner vs Arthur Rinderknech: Prediction
Sinner has got the game to go far on clay court tournaments and as he showed in his encounter against Aslan, he has the nerve too. Sinner came from a 0-6 drubbing in the first set to mount a challenge and beat the Russian in three sets.
But, most importantly for Sinner, luck too seems to be on his side, as was evident with the 70 minute rain break on court when Sinner was trailing 1-2 in the deciding set. Rinderknech has been a late bloomer in his career, but the Frenchman has a decent game and should make general progress this year. In this match though, Sinner is the favourite.
Match Prediction: Jannik Sinner will beat Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets.
