Following the conclusion of all the Masters 1000 events for the year, the new champions have been crowned. While some players have defended their titles, others have overthrown the defending champion to claim the prize. Nevertheless, with six winners at nine events, this year really showed a great shifting of power throughout the duration of the season. It is safe to say that this year was exciting, not only for the players but for audiences as well.

Carlos Alcaraz defends his title at Madrid
The 20-year-old Spaniard is the only player in this year’s list who managed to defend their title. With an exemplary show of talent at the clay court masters, Alcaraz defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in the final. While this match was a three-setter, it was the Spaniard who took home the cup, again.

However, this is not the only title the former World No.1 took home. He also won the maiden Masters title at Indian Wells, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final. The Russian was upset by Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. While he started out the year as the No. 1 ranked player, he was eventually overthrown by Novak Djokovic after his 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open.
Daniil Medvedev bags two Masters titles this year
The former World No. 1, though had participated at three Masters finals, had won only two of them. These titles served as his fifth and sixth Masters titles respectively. However, both wins were relatively easy for the Russian, with him winning both in straight sets.

The ‘hard-court specialist’ proved that he is not only a master of the hard courts but can hold his own on clay as well. Daniil Medvedev bagged the Miami Open and the Italian Open titles, which were on hard and clay courts respectively. His other great achievement this year was his final appearance at the US Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
Andrey Rublev wins a maiden masters title
Russian Andrey Rublev defeated Holger Rune at the Monte Carlo Masters to win his first Masters 1000 title. With a thrilling three-setter, the match was indeed a display of great prowess.

While the Dane was aiming for a second Masters title, it was ultimately the Russian who won the trophy. While the Russian has been establishing himself slowly but surely on the tennis field, this was the first time he won a major title. While he also made it to the finals of the Shanghai Masters, he was defeated by Hubert Hurkacz.
Jannik Sinner is another player to win his first Masters title
The Italian has been on quite the roll this season. While Jannik Sinner has made it to the finals of Masters events twice before, this is the first time he managed to bag it.

He has won four titles this 2023 season alone, which put him in a career-high ranking of World No.4. He played Alex de Minaur in the final of the Canadian Open and won the title in straight sets. Ever since his fourth-round loss at the US Open, the Italian has been proving that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Novak Djokovic does it again, this time twice
24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is no stranger to winning titles at the big stages. His two titles at the Cincinnati Masters and the Paris Masters gave him a record-extending 40 titles at Masters 1000 events. He faced Carlos Alcaraz at the Cincinnati Masters and Grigor Dimitrov at the Paris Masters.

While the match against the Bulgarian was relatively simple, with the Serb winning in straight sets, it wasn’t as straightforward at Cincinnati. His match against Alcaraz was a three-set thriller, with two sets going to tie-breakers. However, these accomplishments push the Serb closer and closer to finishing the year at World No. 1.
Hubert Hurkacz is the final Masters title winner
The Pole won his second Masters 1000 title at ATP Shanghai in an intriguing final match against Andrey Rublev. While this is the third final for Hubert Hurkacz, it is only the second time he has lifted the winner’s trophy.

However, the Pole has shown that he is proficient in not just singles tennis. He holds two Masters titles at Men’s doubles at Paris and Miami.
