First Semi-Final Prediction: Aslan Karatsev vs Maxime Cressy

Bottom Half

Andy Murray
Andy Murray

2nd seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili gets a bye in the first round and is most likely to play wildcard entrant Andy Murray who will start against a lucky loser or a qualifier. Albert Ramos Vinolas will start against Federico Delbonis and the winner will take on the survivor from the clash between David Goffin and one of the qualifiers or lucky loser.

4th seeded Reilly Opelka gets a bye in round one and will take on the winner between the clash of Marcos Giron and wildcard entrant Jordan Thompson. American Brandon Nakashima will start against a qualifier or a lucky loser and will be the favourite to take on the winner between the match of Nick Kyrgios and 7th seeded Fabio Fognini.

Second Semi-Final Prediction: Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Reilly Opelka

Semi-Finals

Maxime Cressy
Maxime Cressy

Karatsev will make his Tour debut in Sydney while Cressy who started the season as a qualifier in the ATP Melbourne, has made his way to the finals. The American has picked up some tough wins and could put Karatsev in a spot during their potential showdown. The only thing Karatsev will have in his corner will be the experience of big matches and that could bail him out eventually.

Unlike Karatsev and Cressy, Basilashvili and Opelka have played against each other on the Tour earlier. While Opelka fell to Cressy in Melbourne, the big American can certainly make a strong comeback as he has done earlier while Basliashvili will be changing courts as he was representing Georgia at the 2022 ATP Cup where they crashed out from the group stages.

Final Prediction: Aslan Karatsev vs Reilly Opelka

Aslan Karatsev
Aslan Karatsev

It could be the 2nd potential meeting between Opelka and Karatsev who last met in the 3rd round of the 2021 Rome Masters. While both the players have shown their best games on hardcourts, it could be a thrilling battle for the title as it will be the last chance of preparation as the Grand Slam will begin from 17th January and the final is scheduled on 15th January.

Champion: Aslan Karatsev
