Jack Sock vs Yoshihito Nishioka: Preview

Yoshihito Nishioka
Yoshihito Nishioka has already lost to Sock and that too very recently

Nishioka comes to Washington from the Olympics where deprived of the home support he would normally have expected, he suffered a first-round defeat at the hands of Karen Khachanov, the Russian who went on to reach the final. He has not been beyond the third round of any tournament he has entered in 2021 and has only got to that stage on three occasions – most recently in Parma in May.

In their last meeting, Jack eased to victory in straight sets against Yoshihito Nishioka, 6-2, 6-3 in an hour and eight minutes to advance to the quarters of the only ATP tournament the American has played this year, having entered Newport via a wildcard after having dropped outside the top-200. He eventually lost to Kevin Anderson in 3 sets.

Jack Sock vs Yoshihito Nishioka: Prediction

Yoshihito Nishioka
Yoshihito Nishioka has a much higher world rank

Nishioka holds a much better ranking than Sock but Sock has been better off in events, reaching the Hall of Fame Open quarter-finals too, after having won a Challenger title in June too. Expect the match to be a close one with no clear favourite in place

Prediction: A 3 set win for Jack
