The Canadian, FAA is playing his last event of the year, having failed to qualify for the Tour Finals in Turin next week therefore, the youngster will look to end a good season on a high here in Stockholm.

FAA usually plays great throughout a tournament if he starts it well, and we have most certainly seen that in his incredible results at the Wimbledon and the US Open this year. The canadian reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and the semi-finals at the US Open. Felix put up strong showings to defeat Roberto Bautista Agut, Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz to make the final four losing to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in Flushing Meadows.

In his first match here against Serbian veteran, Filip Krajinović, it cannot be said that Felix demonstrated excellent tennis. However, in order to achieve a positive result, it was enough for him to simply correctly take advantage of the opponent’s mistakes.

Botic van de Zandschulp pulled off the a rather difficult upset over Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in three tough sets to set up an even tougher meeting with the second seed, Felix Auger Aliassime. 

Zandschulp won his first match here against Nino Serdarušić, who provided significant resistance to Botic. The 26 year-old, who made his quarterfinal debut in majors at the US Open this year, was a semifinalist in St. Petersburg two weeks ago. Tuesday’s win over Fucosvics improved his 2021 tour record to 15-9 and on Thursday, the Dutchman will be aiming to reach second semi-final of the season.

FAA usually plays great throughout a tournament if he starts it well as witnessed at the Majors. The Canadian comes into this tournament after suffering a poor second round loss at the Paris Masters against German Dominik Koepfer.

To take him out, Zandschulp will have to focus on just being consistent and not really allowing FAA to be aggressive, because when that happens, he’s very difficult to stop. I expect van de Zandschulp to push Felix for sure, but to take the second seed out in the end will be tough. FAA’s run at the Majors this year stand as testament to his quality of tennis and what he can bring to the court on his good days. With the hope of ending the season on a decent note after failing to qualify for Turin, Felix would be aiming to get the better off the Zandschulp and book his spot in the last four of the 2021 Stockholm Open.
