The first grand slam of the year- Australian Open 2022 is around the corner and it’s build up has been nothing but chaotic. The tournament will commence from January 17 and the Women’s and Men’s Singles Final will be played on January 29 and 30 respectively.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic will miss the tournament after he lost his case in the Federal court and got his visa revoked amidst his vaccination situation. Swiss maestro Roger Federer and American legend Serena Williams too will miss the tournament. But eyes will be once again on 2009 champion Rafael Nadal as he’d have a chance to win his historic 21st slam.

Home favorite Ash Barty will headline the women’s draw with Aryna Sabalenka seeded second. US Open champion Daniil Medvedev will be the highest seed in Djokovic’s absence while Nadal is seeded sixth.

The matches will be played in both the day and night sessions. The day matches will start from 11:00 a.m. local time daily while the night session on Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena will begin from 7 p.m. local time.
