Roberto Bautista Agut vs Henri Laaksonen: Preview
The 33-year-old is having a very disappointing time on the clay in 2021. Despite his fruitful time on the hard courts, he has not been able to carry his form into the European clay court swing. Although he has won seven matches on the dirt, his performances in the Masters 1000 events has been below par. He has not been able to get past the third round in all the four tournaments he has played on the clay in 2021. He did start off his French Open campaign in style by dismissing Mario Martinez straight sets. If he can find his rhythm back, he can cause trouble to the title contenders going ahead. He will also be keen on going past the fourth round, which he has never done before at Roland Garros.
On the other hand, the Swiss comes into this tournament having played most of his matches on the clay in 2021. That said, his route into the main draws of major events have been through the qualifiers. Even at the ongoing French Open, he played three qualifiers to break into the main draw. Until his first round, he had not dropped a set, but that was busted by Yannik Hanfmann.
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Henri Laaksonen: Head to Head
These two have met only once on the tour and that was way back in 2013 on the clay of Gstaad. The Spaniard came out on top in straight sets.
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Henri Laaksonen: Prediction
Although the veteran Spaniard has not been at his best on the clay this season, he will have enough ammunition and endurance to keep his Swiss opponent at bay. Unless, Agut has a lapse in concentration, this cannot go beyond three sets.
Match Prediction: Roberto Bautista Agut should win in three sets.
