Belinda Bencic vs Petra Martic : Preview
Belinda Bencic has made a strong start to the 2021 Grass season as she finds herself in the finals of the WTA Berlin Open 2021 which she is scheduled to play against Ludmilla Samsonova. Irrespective of the result, Bencic will be confident coming into the tournament in Eastbourne and will aim for the title again.
While she maintained 5-5 record on Clay this season, she had a better record on Hardcourt winning 7 of the 13 matches. With the wins in Berlin, the Swiss star will fancy her chances in the upcoming Grand Slam at the Wimbledon 2021 as well.
Petra Martic will come to Eastbourne from the Berlin Open where she was defeated in the 2nd round by Bencic in her way to the finals of the competition. She had a fairly good Grass season in 2019, reaching the semi-finals of the 2019 Birmingham Open and also reached the 4th round at the Wimbledon that season.
Martic had a poor season on Hardcourt so far but won the majority of her matches during the Clay season and while she made her debut at the Berlin Open, she will now look to revenge her 2nd round defeat when she takes the court in Eastbourne.
Belinda Bencic vs Petra Martic : Head to Head
This will be the 3rd meeting between the duo and 2nd on grass. While Martic won their first clash that happened at the 2019 Charleston Open on Clay, Bencic emerged victorious at their 2nd meeting last week. The head-to-head tie is currently levelled at 1-1.
Belinda Bencic vs Petra Martic : Prediction
Martic will come into the tie with a career Grass record of 28-19 and a season record of 11-12. Her consistency on the surface has been fluctuating and it will be difficult for her against Belinda who is in-form.
Belinda will come into the tie with a career Grass record of 53-20 and has been very consistent on the surface. She enters the tournament with a season record of 16-11 and looks the favourite to win the clash and advance into the next round.
Prediction: Belinda Bencic to win in straight-sets.
