Novak Djokovic has been receiving a lot of criticism for getting a medical exemption at the Australian Open 2022. The major reason for the criticism is the hypocrisy of the Australian authorities and giving special treatment to some players.
An Indian Junior named Aman Dahiya was made to withdraw from the Junoir Australian Open after being denied a medical exemption. Aman was unvaccinated due to the vaccination policies in India according to which children under the age of 18 won’t be vaccinated.
BIASED Australian officials hand Novak Djokovic a medical exemption
It doesn’t matter how much people deny the involvement of politics in determining who gets a medical exemption. But in the end, it is all about the money that comes in with each player’s participation.
When we look at Aman, him playing or not playing the tournament won’t have affected the revenue generated by the Junoir Australian Open. It would’ve been a great opportunity for the youngster to show his talent at such a grand stage, but nobody cares about the benefits a youngster could have by participating in such a huge tournament.
On the other hand, a player of Novak Djokovic’s stature brings in millions of viewers and dozens of sponsors with him. Which generates a ton of revenue for the Australian Open.
That is why even though the authorities might suggest that the decision about Novak Djokovic being given a medical exemption by an independent authority might be true. But the world No.1 would’ve been treated much differently as compared to others. And the authorities at the Australian Open must’ve had some influence in providing Djokovic with the exemption.
