Slowly becoming the favourite of the crowd with his amazing talent, World No. 11 Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most sought teenagers on the Tour. Already a Masters champion with another two titles that complete his trophy cabinet for titles won on all tiers of the Tour, Alcaraz is rapidly breaking through the ranks.

With a sensational display in March where he made a winning debut in the Davis Cup for Spain and then reached the USA for the Sunshine Double, Alcaraz returned home with multiple records. With a semi-final run in the 2022 Indian Wells Masters and a title at the 2022 Miami Masters, Alcaraz is now just 29 points away from entering the Top-10.

As the Tour moves towards the Golden Swing and knowing Carlos’ first two titles have come on the soil, many are believing a successful haul for the teenager during the next few weeks including putting him a title contender for the 2022 French Open as well saying it won’t be an ‘upset’ anymore if he claims the major. But coach Juan Carlos Ferrero does not believe that the surface is the best for the teen.

“We’re not sure (laughs). We talk about it sometimes, and he’s not sure either, because he started training more on hard courts a year ago. He had hardly competed on hard courts. With his style of play, which consists of going forward a lot, going to the net and being aggressive, I knew he could adapt well to this type of court, and even to grass. When he is 100% trained he may be able to give a bit more on clay, but we keep the door open for hard courts in the future,” said Ferrero as reported by WeloveTennis.

A debut awaits Carlos Alcaraz in the coming week

After a successful trip to the USA, Alcaraz will next play at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters where he will be making his tournament debut. He is currently 6-0 on Clay after having won the 2022 Rio Open and then played a Davis Cup tie as well which was played on Clay. With the current form, he is in, he is surely a title contender for the Masters title.
