England football team came so close to scripting historyat the EURO 2020 final but unfortunately, failed to hold their nerves in the ultimate moments of the game. After the game was tied at 1-1 at full time, the outcome was decided in the penalty shootout.

Despite trying their hardest, England lost in the penalty shootout. Italy won the encounter and their fans were over the moon, however, English fans were livid after losing in the finale. What transpired after that is nothing short of ‘shameful’ for the sport.

Reports of attack and violence started surfacing in London after the game ended. Moreover, many fans took to social networking sites and hurled racist abuse at English players who were unable to score during the penalty shootout.

Showing solidarity with the English football teams and the players who were mercilessly trolled and and abused, Coco Gauff tweeted, “you guys did so so so good. the best is yet to come.”

American tennis star Coco Gauff has been sensational this season. She displayed tremendous form at the French Open as well as at Wimbledon 2021. The young champion felt deeply for the English players who did everything in their capacity to bring it home but couldn’t.

Prior to Gauff, champion player Naomi Osaka also took to Twitter express solidarity with English players who received a lot of flak from local supporters. Many tennis stars and fans coming out to support the English team depicts that at the end, it is the positivity that every sports brings with it which finally prevails.
