Daniil Medvedev secured his ever victory at French Open, as he defeated the Kazak, Alexander Bublik in straight sets in the first round on Monday. The Russian comes into French Open 2021, with a huge load of expectations, as he is seeded second, ahead of Rafael Nadal.
Daniil Medvedev won just one clay court match this year, in leadup to the French Open. The Russian was knocked out in the third round of Madrid Masters, and in the second round of Italian Open 2021. Recently, Medvedev appeared in a Fans 2 players session on the official Roland Garros YouTube channel. The Russian was asked as to where did he watch the Monaco GP from, and was asked to pick his favorite driver.
“I watched the Monaco GP from the Fairmont Hotel, it was really nice. There weren’t many overtakes during the race, but it was my first Grand Prix, so it was amazing,” said Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev was also asked about his favorite Formula One driver. The Russian stated that he supports people who go against the legends, and picked Max Verstappen as his favorite driver.
“I want to support people who are going against the legends. So it will Verstappen this year,” said Medvedev. Max Verstappen claimed the victory at the Monaco GP, and moved to the top of the championship charts, ahead of seven time champion, Lewis Hamilton.
As for Daniil Medvedev, he has a good opportunity of making a statement at the French Open this year. Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are all in the top half of the draw, which means Medvedev has a golden opportunity to go deep at the French Open 2021.
