History Denied! Daniil Medvedev outplays Novak Djokovic to win the 2021 US Open

Cometh the hour, cometh the man! Daniil Medvedev plays the best tennis of his life and denies Novak Djokovic a calendar slam at the 2021 US Open. The Russian second seed beat Djokovic in straight sets 6-4,6-4,6-4 to win his maiden grand slam title.
Medvedev played almost a perfect tournament and dropped just one set en route his triumph. He becomes the first man for almost a decade to win the US Open by dropping just one set. The Russian, despite being the World No.2 went into the match as an underdog but was clearly the better player on the given day.
Djokovic didn’t have the legs warmed up at the start and struggled a lot with his sideways movement. cost him an early break as Medvedev took a 2-0 lead. Djokovic played good tennis for the remainder of the set but wasn’t able to get the break back and lost the set 4-6.
Medvedev too good for Djokovic
Medvedev had all the momentum and carried it into the second set. He was hitting winners left, right and centre and was pushing Djokovic to his limits in his service games. He again managed to sneak away with a break, courtesy Djokovic’s frustration and his mastery. He eventually won the set 6-4 and was just a set away from winning the US Open.
Medvedev came with a plan and their was no stopping him. He once again broke Novak upfront and backed it up with another break to take a 5-1 lead. He served for the set at 5-2 but double faulted at championship point and got broken. But eventually, after a few hiccups, he won the set 6-4 to win his maiden grand slam title.
