The 25 year-old Russian did not shy away from admitting his fondness for France. He said “I feel Russian, I can’t lie to you people. But my team is French, my sponsors are French, I practice here, I speak French, I live in Monaco. So yes I feel at home here.”

Daniil Medvedev on his younger opponents

Daniil Medvedev’s quarterfinal bout is set against 21-year old Hugo Gaston. On this note, he was asked about his opinions on younger opponents. To this, Medvedev’s responded by saying, “When I’m thinking about Alcaraz and Gaston, I feel I’m old. When I was 18-y old, I was #700 and finally won a Future. What Alcaraz’s doing is incredible. Gaston is fun to watch. They’re playing late, it’s not usual for them, when I was young I struggled with that.”
