Denis Shapovalov launches Shapo Shelter to spread awareness against animal cruelty and help in the rescue of animals
Denis Shapovalov and Shapo Shelter
Denis Shapovalov has always been a very loving and compassionate human being. His love for animals is very well known from his posts and pictures on social media. Hence the Canadian tennis star has launched an animal welfare and rescue shelter called the ‘Shapo Shelter’. It is an online platform aimed at helping domestic animals get help and find homes.
Shapovalov wants to do more work on animal welfare and through this initiative, he is taking his first step. By doing this he wants to spread awareness about animal cruelty and wants to promote adoption over the shopping of pets.
“Over the years I’ve heard so many cruel stories about certain animals that were so helpless. With Shapo Shelter, we’re going to highlight the stories of these poor animals that can’t tell their own stories in hopes of finding them new homes, as well as tell the stories of all these different shelters and organizations trying to help these beautiful animals,” Denis Shapovalov said in a heartfelt video announcing the launch of Shapo Shelter.
The organisation will share stories of animal cruelty and spread awareness on social media. They will also rescue animals and give them proper shelter as they are partnering with different shelters all over the globe. They can eventually be adopted by netizens who can reach out to the organisation after watching their stories or posts. At this moment the organisation is partnering with several shelters such as the Humane Society of Manatee County, the Humane Society of Greater Miami in Florida, and Adopta un Amigo para Siempre in Mexico City.

The World No.15 shared how he has a great love for animals and wants to help them. He also revealed that he is supporting a lot of shelters for a few years and have many pets of his own. So he is really excited to announce this new programme where his and his team’s mission will be to help out animals find shelters.
“I’ve got a huge love and passion for helping out animals. I’ve been supporting different shelters throughout the years. I’ve got so many pets of my own. So I’m really excited to announce that I put together a team and have started my own page called Shapo Shelter which is going to help out different shelters around the world promote their animals, both dogs and cats and try to find them new homes,” Shapovalov added.
After the Australian Open, Shapovalov has had very average performances. In recent times he got knocked in the second round at the Indian Wells and followed it up with an opening round exit in Miami Open in Singles.
The 22-year-old has skipped the ongoing Monte Carlo Masters. This will be the second year in a row that he will miss the ATP 1000 Masters event. Last year the event did not happen due to COVID-19 and before that in 2019, he suffered a first round exit against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.
