World No. 22 Emma Raducanu confirms her participation in the final tournament of the 2021 season, the Linz Open in Austria. The Linz Open 2021 will be the final WTA-250 tournament while also being the last week of action on the WTA Tour before the 2021 WTA Finals which are scheduled in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Emma has not played since her historic title-run at the 2021 US Open where she became the first qualifier in the history of tennis to win a major and as a cherry on the top, she did it without dropping a single set throughout the 3 qualifying rounds and 7 main-draw matches. Her win in New York has helped her to get a wildcard for the upcoming Indian Wells Open 2021.

Despite breaking into the Top-30 of the WTA rankings, Emma still needed to play the qualifiers at the Indian Wells since she was ranked World No. 150 when the entries closed. The wildcard however will take her into the main-draw directly. Post her week in California, Emma will be travelling to Russia for the 2021 Kremlin Cup and then to Romania for the 2021 Transylvania Open.

With November having only 1 tournament in the WTA-250 category, the Brit will be heading to Austria for the Linz Open. Her plans to Austria may however be disrupted if she is able to grab one of the remaining 4 spots for the WTA Finals in Mexico which will overlap with the dates of the Linz Open, as the Linz Open is scheduled between November 6-12 while the WTA Finals are scheduled between November 10-17.

Emma Raducanu is currently 15th in the Race to WTA Finals

Winning a massive 2000 points at the US Open, Emma finds herself on the 15th spot in the updated rankings for the Race to WTA Finals in Mexico. Ashleigh Barty, Aryna Sabalenka, Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Krejcikova have already booked their places for the finals which leave only 4 spots to grab.

Emma is on 2282 points while as per the latest rankings, 8th placed Naomi Osaka is on 2771 points. With the Indian Wells offering 1000 points, Emma can still make it as there are still quite a few tournaments left to make up for the points. Also, the uncertainty over the participation of an injured Barty and Osaka (if she qualifies) who is on an indefinite break from tennis might open up an unexpected spot.

The next 2 months will be quite thrilling for Raducanu who is set to make her WTA-1000 debut at the upcoming Indian Wells Open where she is seeded 17th and has got a 1st round bye already given her seeding.
