German Olympic Gold medalist Alexander Zverev gave his opinion about how he thinks about the ankle injury sustained during the epic encounter with Rafael Nadal in the French Open 2022 semi-final. He was announcing the release of his documentary which describes his career until now in an Instagram post. There, he said that he would have won the match against Nadal and then the French Open title if not for the ankle injury.
The Instagram post captioned, “My way. My comeback. The new documentary starts tomorrow“. In the video, Zverev says, “Two things are missing for me: number 1 in the world and a Grand Slam. And I could have done it all in that one week (French Open 2022 week 2). My first thought was really, is my career over now (after the ankle injury occurred)?”
There was a part of tennis fans who ridiculed Zverev for claiming that he would have won the match against Nadal. A part of them showed proof that the German was trailing the match anyway. As Zverev is not active on Twitter these days, the announcement on his Instagram handle was widely shared on Twitter by the fans and there were a lot of mixed reactions on the same.

Alexander Zverev is looking to come back to his top form
The German World No.14 Alexander Zverev was playing some of his best tennis during the past years before the freak ankle injury sustained during the French Open 2022. Zverev has not been able to get back into top form since his return to the ATP Tour. His Australian Open run ended in the second round itself. Then he played ATP Rotterdam but there also his campaign ended in round two.
At the Qatar Open this year, Zverev lost to Briton legend Andy Murray in round two. Then in Dubai Open, he played some good tennis but eventually lost to Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals. Then he played in the Indian Wells Masters and played a great three-setter match against the eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev in the pre-quarter-finals.
Zverev will be looking to peak in the clay court swing in the coming months. The tennis world is looking forward to seeing him back in the best and challenging the top players.
