“Undisputed King of Tennis”: Fans go crazy after Novak Djokovic clinches year-end No. 1 in the ATP Rankings for a record-shattering seventh time
Novak Djokovic
Regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Novak Djokovic has achieved a lot in his illustrious career. Winner of as many as 20 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic fell agonizingly short of making history as he lost to World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the 2021 US Open.
However, such is the class of the man that he returned to court in an emphatic fashion at the Paris Masters. Although he was given a mighty scare by Hubert Hurkacz in the semis, the Serbian tennis star kept his cool and eventually emerged victoriously, making his way into the finals of the Paris Masters.

Moreover, the champion player recently reached another milestone. He clinched year-end No. 1 in the ATP Rankings for a record-shattering seventh time surpassing Pete Sampras. Commenting on his achievement, Djokovic claimed, “To do it for the record seventh time and surpass my childhood idol and role model, Pete, is incredible. Very grateful, very blessed to be in this position.”
Djokovic became the World No.1 for the first time in 2011, after winning his maiden Wimbledon by beating rival, Rafael Nadal in the finals. Since then, the World No.1 has finished the year as the best player in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
As soon as Djokovic achieved this milestone, his fans showered Twitter and other social media platforms with congratulatory messages. Many even opined that the long-running debate about who is the greatest in the whole world is settled as what Novak has achieved is something no one else has or probably will.
