‘FEDAL is back’ Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal all set to compete at the 2022 Laver Cup

After much speculations around the participation of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at the 2022 Laver Cup, the tournament has confirmed the two champion players will be returning for the competition having missed the 2021 edition. Federer is one of the founders of the tournament and had to miss the tournament in 2021 because of an injury and so did Nadal who had also injured his foot in 2021.

With the 2022 Laver Cup set to return to London, Federer and Nadal will also be returning to the competition. The duo played in the 2019 edition. With the 2020 edition cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, the 2021 edition saw both of them missing the tournament due to their respective injuries.

While Nadal has just returned back home after a successful stint in Australia, winning the tour title in Melbourne and following it with a Grand Slam victory at the 2022 Australian Open. The Grand Slam title made him the first man to win 21 majors and overtake Federer and Novak Djokovic who are on 20 Slams each.

Federer however retweeted to confirm it and giving the fans confirmation that a ‘Fedal comeback’ will be taking place in London this year with their doubles pairing in the last editions garnering great appreciation from the fans.

Rafael Nadal to return to Tour in February, Roger Federer yet to decide his comeback tournament

Nadal will return to Tour later this month but will confirm his participation only after assessing his fitness level after having played a gruelling fortnight in the Melbourne Park. With a final of 5 hours and 24 minutes played against Daniil Medvedev, Nadal will make his decision on the next tournaments shortly.

As for Federer, the Swiss Maestro will decide his next tournaments only after April or May. Federer continues to have difficulty with activities related to his leg and is under medical supervision. He will make the decision on his next tournaments only after seeing how well he has recovered and whether he is match fitness.
