Roger Federer v Matteo Berrettini: Preview
It is a clash of eighth seed vs ninth. Roger Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam champion was stretched to his farthest in the third round by Koepfer. He eventually won the game by 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 but he looked under pressure on several instances. Matteo Berrettini on the other hand defeated Kwon Soon-woo in straight sets in his last game to go through to the fourth round of the French Open 2021 and will be hoping to script a memorable win against the Swiss Legend on Monday.
Federer has been a little out of form since he made a comeback this season. Although, when he defeated Marin Cilic in the second round after the time-violation controversy, tennis fans were expecting to see the old Federer back in action. He has won matches but hasn’t looked at his best. However, the fact that he kept himself away from making unforced errors in the last game, worked in his favor.
Whereas Matteo Berrettini will be hoping to continue his great run and defeat Federer in order to progress into the Quarter-Finals. He went past Kwon Soon-woo by 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 and never really looked under pressure in the whole game. Moreover, he has now won two matches back to back without losing a single game. He is expected to give a tough fight to Federer.
