Stefanos Tsitsipas stormed into the second round of Australian Open 2022, with a straight sets win over Swede, Mikael Ymer in the first round. The fourth seed was not at his best, but just did enough to claim a comfortable win.
Stefanos Tsitsipas won by a score-line of 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 on the Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday night. There is still room for plenty of improvement for the fourth seed, if he is to go all the way in Melbourne. Tsitsipas is a two-time semifinalist at the Australian Open. In 2019, his run was ended by Rafael Nadal, whereas, in 2021, the Greek was defeated in the last four battle by Russian, Daniil Medvedev.

Stefanos Tsitsipas served six aces during the whole encounter, whereas, Ymer served up two aces. However, Tsitsipas’ serve surely needs some major improvement, given that he was pushed right until the edge in his service games.
Moreover, the Greek won just 70% of his points on first serve, a stat which you expect to be in the 80s. His second serve was not impressive either, as he won just 64% of those points. However, the thing that will be a huge positive for the youngster is that he got the better of his opponent’s serve on 7 occasions out of 13 break point opportunities.
Meanwhile, Tsistipas was broken on two occasions, as M. Ymer could convert just 2 of the 11 chances. In all, the fourth seed won 99 points, whereas, Ymer won 79 points. Now, the fourth seed faces the Argentinian, Sebastian Baez in the second round encounter on Thursday.
