Elena Rybakina vs Elsa Jacquemot : Preview
2020 was the breakout year for the twenty one year old Rybakina. She won a title in Hobart and also finished in the top 20 for the first time. The fortunes have turned for the Kazakhstani player since then, and she has been in very poor form. On clay Rybakina has played just two tournaments before coming into the big slam. One was in Charleston and the other one in Madrid.
At Charleston she retired hurt in the first round with a lower back injury. In Madrid she had a good win over Ajla Tomljanović but lost in the next round to Elise Mertens. Her first round here is eighteen year old French woman Elsa Jacquemot.
Jacquemot was given a wildcard into the main draw of the 2020 French Open, but lost to qualifier Renata Zarazúa in the first round. Seeded third, she then entered and won the Girls’ Singles competition at the 2020 French Open. This year too she has been given a wild card entry. She recently participated in the Strasbourg Open where she lost to Maryna Zanevska of Belgium in the very first round.
Elena Rybakina vs Elsa Jacquemot : Head to Head
These two players have not met on the tour before so the head to head stands at 0-0.
Elena Rybakina vs Elsa Jacquemot : Prediction
This is the perfect opportunity for the powerful Rybakina to find some form back. She has been struggling for a while now, and if she can get some confidence back then she can maybe turn her season around.
Jacquemot had failed to get past the first round in the last edition of the French Open. Her performance this year will be a good indicator of her progress as a player.
Prediction: Elena Rybakina will beat Elsa Jacquemot in straight sets.
