French Open 2021: Main Draw Timings, Schedule & Where to Watch Draw Ceremony

The French Open 2021 is less than a week away and the preparations from both the players and the organizers are in full swing. The qualifier have already started from the 24th and will go on till May 27.

Once the qualifiers are done, it will be time for the all important draw. The French Open 2021 Main Draw will be held on May 27 at Stade Roland-Garros, 6 p.m. local time. Traditionally, the draw is held in presence of some derogatories but that hasn’t been confirmed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further, on May 30, the Men’s/Women’s Doubles will be held followed by the Mixed Doubles draw on 2nd June. The wheelchair/quad draws will be held on June 3 while the Junior Boys/Girls singles and doubles draw will be held on June 5 and 6 respectively.

How does the Main Draw work?

The No.1 and No.2 seeds headline the top and bottom half respectively. Then, the third and fourth seed are drawn at random and placed in either halves. It is then followed by the drawing of No.5 to No.8 seed randomly, such that neither of the top 8 seeds meet before the quarter-finals.

Going ahead, the No.9-No.16 seeds are drawn such that all 8 of them face the Top 8 seeds randomly in the Round of 16. Same is done with the No.16-No.32 seeds, such that all 16 of them will face the Top 16 in a preferential order. All the other 96 players are drawn randomly.
