Dominic Thiem vs Pablo Andujar : Preview
Dominic Thiem will continue pursuing his dream of winning the French Open title as the 2020 US Open winner had to twice settle on the runner-up’s trophy at the Roland Garros. Thiem participated in 3 Clay tournaments this season with his best run coming in Madrid Masters 2021 where he reached the semis.
He last played at the ATP Lyon Open 2021 where being the top-seed he was defeated in the Round of 16. Thiem was defeated in the quarter-finals at the 2020 French Open.
Pablo Andujar will be looking to carry the confidence from the ATP Geneva Open 2021 from where he travels to France. Till the Geneva Open, Pablo had made early exits in most of his tournaments. However, his week in Geneva turned out to be his best as he registered his first ever win over Roger Federer in the 2nd round before reaching semis.
He was defeated in the semi-finals by eventual winner Casper Ruud. Pablo will look to take the positives from the Geneva campaign as he enters the Grand Slam in Paris where he is yet to go past the 3rd round after having made his debut in the competition in 2007.
Dominic Thiem vs Pablo Andujar : Head to Head
This will be the 4th meeting between the duo who have squared off against each other 3 times with all of those meetings coming on Clay. They last met in 2019 at the Generali Open in Austria where local boy Thiem emerged victorious like the previous 2 meetings and leads the head-to-head tie 3-0.
Dominic Thiem vs Pablo Andujar : Prediction
While Thiem is a great Clay player, this season he has faced some shocking results as well. Pablo on the other hand will come in with confidence having played more matches than Thiem as he is 8-7 on Clay while Thiem is 4-3 on Clay for the season. But given Thiem’s past record, he looks the favourite to win the tie.
Prediction: Dominic Thiem to win in 4-sets.
