Paula Badosa vs Lauren Davis: Preview

Paula Badosa

Badosa has been in sensational form coming into the French Open 2021. The twenty three year old from Spain has played some great tennis on clay and has the results to show for it. First up for her, on clay this year, was the Charleston Open, a tournament where she reached the Semi-Finals. Up next was the Madrid Open, and Badosa reached the Semifinals of that tournament as well.

Her big prize came at the Serbia Open, where she defeated Ana Konjuh to win her first title on the tour. Badosa was initially supposed to face Clara Tauson from Denmark, but the withdrawal of Alison Riske(27th) seed meant Badosa became the 33rd seed. Now she will face American Lauren Davis in the first round.

Davis has had no success on clay this year. Her performances have lacked spark and her second serve has bothered her. Her last match coming into the Open was in Strasbourg against Ekaterina Alexandrova, and ended in a straight set defeat 1-6 5-7.

These players have met just once on the tour before, and Badosa won that contest. Badosa leads the head to head 1-0.

Paula Badosa vs Lauren Davis: Prediction

 Paula Badosa

Badosa has a 13-2 win-loss record on clay this year. The Spaniard has been in great form and will look to cash in on that. Davis is known for being a good player on clay courts, but has been woefully out of form this season and has a 8-8 win-loss record to show for it. This should be an easy win for Badosa.

Prediction: Paula Badosa will beat Lauren Davis in straight sets.
