It’s been a dream turn of events for Taylor Fritz. He underwent a knee surgery just 4 months back and now at Indian Wells, he’s reached his maiden masters semifinal. He made it to the third round of Wimbledon where he lost to 4th seed Alexander Zverev. He then came back at the Los Cabos Open where he reached the semifinal. He followed it up with another semifinal outing at the Atlanta Open before bowing out of the first round at Washington, Toronto and Cincinnati.

At Indian Wells this week, Fritz has just lost one set and has beaten the likes of Brandon Nakashima and Matteo Berrettini in the opening rounds. He then beat Jannik Sinner in the Round of 16 before getting the better of 3rd seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals in three sets 4-6,6-3,7-6(3).

Nikoloz Basilashvili has had a mixed season so far. After winning the Qatar Open and Bavarian International, he had a poor clay court season before reaching the semifinals of the Halle Open. He then had a few early round exits and bowed out of the third round at Flushing Meadows.

Basilashvili got the better of Christopher Eubanks and Albert Ramos Vinolas in the early rounds at Indian Wells and then beat 24th seed Karen Khachanov in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals, the Georgian stunned second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets 6-4,2-6,6-4.
