Cristian Garin vs Mackenzie Mcdonald: Preview
The 25-year-old has tasted success on the clay this season. Besides two tournaments on hard courts, the rest of his matches have been on the dirt. After winning the title in Santiago, he made progress in Monte Carlo by reaching the third round. Thereafter, two consecutive quarterfinals in Estoril and Munich further boosted his confidence. On the way, he also beat top names Fernando Verdasco and Daniil Medvedev. With 12 wins on clay, he comes in well prepared at this year’s French Open. In the opening round, he beat Juan Londero in four sets.
Meanwhile, the American has not played many main draw matches this year on the clay. Mcdonald has almost played a dozen matches as a qualifier. Even at the 2021 French Open, he had to play three qualifying rounds to get into the main draw. Although he didn’t drop a single set in the qualifying rounds, he did drop a set against Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round.

Cristian Garin vs Mackenzie Mcdonald: Prediction
Both players will enter this clash after plenty of matches under their belt, which could make for an interesting match. However, the Chilean has more skill and shot-making ability which should see him through to the next round. A four setter cannot be ruled out though.
Match Prediction: Cristian Garin should win in four sets.
