Denis Shapovalov vs Marco Cecchinato: Preview
The second seed is coming into this tournament after nearly beating the King of Clay last week in Rome. Although the Canadian couldn’t make the final stages in Italy, he is one of the favourites to win the title in Geneva. The 22-year-old has already spoken about the minute changes he has made to his game on the dirt and could well make a case to win his maiden title on the dirt for 2021.
The 28-year-old comes into this tournament after having played bulk of his matches on clay this year. The Italian started his clay court swing in February and since then has played 22 matches on the dirt, with 13-9 win/loss record. Although he loves playing on the clay, Cecchinato has only managed to come through the qualifying stages in most tournaments, and has is yet to get past the second round. In Geneva this week, he is yet to drop a set and is on a three-match winning streak.

These two have never met twice on the ATP tour.
Denis Shapovalov vs Marco Cecchinato: Prediction
The Canadian is coming into this match after almost having beaten Nadal in Rome last week and will be high on confidence. Moreover, he looks fresh and should have quite a few weapons to outgun his opponent, who is struggling for form. Although Cecchinato might try to upset the rhythm of Shapovalov, it is tough to see a three-setter here, let alone a shock defeat.
Match Prediction: Denis Shapovalov should win in two sets.
