‘GET NEW PEOPLE’ Nick Kyrgios lashes out at Umpire Carlos Bernardes for his bias, shockingly reveals the ‘moment’ for which he got ‘unsportsmanlike code violation’
Nick Kyrgios
In his fourth-round match against Jannik Sinner at Miami, Nick Kyrgios went a little overboard and lost his cool towards the end of the first set. For murmuring on the court, Kyrgios received a point penalty in the tie-breaker after which, he lost the set. A furious Kyrgios straight away went to the chair umpire and was engaged in a very heated argument.
He yelled and abused the umpire after which the umpire gave him a game penalty which meant that he’d start the second set with a break, down. The Aussie lost the match in straight sets and after the match, took to social media to lash out at the chair umpire and revealed the reason for which he was given a point penalty.
Kyrgios said that he just said to his friend in the crowd that: ‘You could do the job of the umpire’. For yelling this, Umpire Carlos Bernardes gave him a point penalty because his feelings got hurt. Kyrgios called out ATP to get new people as this is not the first time Kyrgios feels biased towards him by Bernardes.
“You could do the job of the umpire’ – what was said to my best friend that got me ‘unsportsmanlike code violation’ at 5-3 in the first set tie break. With 100s of thousands of dollars on the line that was the decision he made because the umpires ‘feelings got hurt. GET NEW PEOPLE,” Kyrgios wrote.
The Aussie also clarified that he has nothing against Sinner and his tweet was only targeted toward the chair umpire. He also revealed that Sinner is one of his favorite players on the tour.
“Don’t get it twisted. I got mad respect for Jannik Sinner. He is one of my favorite players and he was TOO GOOD. I am aiming all of this at an umpire who clearly ISNT GOOD ENOUGH to be doing these matches. Nothing but a slap on the wrist for him right? What a joke,” he said.
