The tennis World is currently stunned by Ash Barty’s sudden retirement. The Australian World No.1, who just won her 3rd grand slam title a couple of months back, took to social media to announce that she’ll be retiring from professional tennis with immediate effect.

To put things in perspective, Barty is just 25 years old and was just 1 US Open title away from securing a career slam. Having won 2 out of the last 3 majors, she also was the best player on the women’s circuit currently. She was scheduled to play at Indian Wells and Miami but decided to opt out as she ‘didn’t feel ready’.

Barty also holds the 4th longest streak for being World No.1 and given her recent form, could’ve easy risen up the ladder. What’s more shocking is that Barty revealed she didn’t have the physical drive or emotional want to compete at the highest level anymore.
