Federer has been out of the game for some time. After enduring another knee surgery near the conclusion of last season, he has been slowly but steadily returning to normalcy. Federer hasn’t been seen since last season’s Wimbledon Championships. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Hubert Hurkacz, which was a setback for his team given his previous success at the site.

He had previously played at the French Open 2021 but withdrew before the fourth round to stay fit for Wimbledon which was scheduled to begin in less than a month’s time. After more than a season, he was competing in his maiden Grand Slam event at the Australian Open 2020.

The Swiss maestro plans to hit the courts shortly. He’s been working on his recovery in order to return to the practice courts as soon as possible. Sevrin Luthi, his coach and companion, recently expressed similar sentiments but said it was tough to imagine him making it in time for the Wimbledon Championships this year.
