Former World No.1 Rafael Nadal has been in the headlines for a long time. The player became the favorite of social media and news reporters from the time he suffered from a severe leg injury in the middle of the last season. After that, he spent his entire 2021 season recovering from his injury and was even o crutches for weeks.

Rafa made a comeback in the ATP Melbourne Summer Set tournament this season and after winning the opening round placed his way towards the finals and won by defeating Maxime Cressy: his first title of the season. After this, the player showed his moves at the Australian Open 2022 where he again claimed the crown by knocking out World No.1 Daniil Medvedev.

In doing so, Nadal became the first man in tennis history to win 21 majors. He then claimed the Mexican Open title at Acapulco by once again defeating newly crowned world no.1 Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal and Cameron Norrie in the final. Rafa is still undefeated this season and is currently on a 15-match winning streak. He will play the Indian Wells Masters next before stepping into the clay season.

Recently Daniil Medvedev was ranked World No.1 by the association of tennis professionals by replacing Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic. After this, Rafa was asked questioned about being World No.1.

To this question, the Spaniard replied that he has other goals to accomplish rather than being ranked the highest. He also added that the injuries that he has endured have deprived him of the highest rankings for a few years.

“I cannot play a full schedule. Now I have other goals. My injuries have deprived me of being on top of the rankings for a few more years,” Nadal said after his victory at Acapulco.
