‘I think there is no limit,’ Iga Swiatek motivated to extend her unbeaten streak, criticizes Miami Open scheduling once again

Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek has been playing some of the best tennis of her life this week in Miami. She has dominated the field like no one else and has dropped just 9 games en route the quarterfinals. In the Round of 16, she defeated American teen sensation Coco Gauff in straight sets 6-3,6-1. In doing so, she extends her winning streak to 14 matches.
Swiatek, who will become the new World No.1 after the Miami Open, is looking to complete the Sunshine Double by winning a 3rd consecutive WTA 1000 title. After the match, she sounded confident and said that it’s the first time she has has a streak like that and according to her, she doesn’t really think there is any limit to her game.
“I’m really happy I can keep going,” Swiatek said in her on-court interview. “It’s the first time I have had a streak like that so I don’t know where my limit is. I try to think there is no limit.”
After her third round win, Swiatek complained about the scheduling at Miami and after beating Gauff, she once again called the schedule ‘crazy’ as she has to play matches on consecutive days without a break.
“Last night was tough doing recovery with such a crazy schedule, it’s tough and stressful, but I am happy I could cut this off and prepare for the match,” she said.
Is Iga Swiatek favorite to win the Miami Open?

In the quarterfinals, Iga Swiatek will lock horns against 28th seed Petra Kvitova. The Pole will enter the match as a huge favorite given that this is Kvitova’s first big quarterfinal since Cincinnati 2021. After that, she could face a tough task in the semifinals against either Paula Badosa or Jessica Pegula. And in the final, she will most likely face either Naomi Osaka or Danielle Collins.
