Danielle Collins played some of the best tennis in her career at the Australian Open 2022. Collins came into the women’s singles event as the 27th seed and had very little expectation to make it to the finals of the major.

She faced defeat at the hands of Ash Barty in the finals, who has been playing an unattainable level of tennis for the past two weeks. However, Collins managed to break into the Top 10 rankings at the end of the tournament and also gained a huge fan base because of her magnificent performance.

Collins during her post-match conference opened up about shocking details about her back issues during the whole tournament. She revealed shocking details about her back issues which didn’t allow her to even sit down during the breaks in her matches.

Danielle Collins was able to achieve great heights at the 2022 Australian Open. The 28-year-old suffered from Endometriosis and Rheumatoid arthritis, Collins fought through the pain recovered, and made it back to the tennis court.

Collins played the whole Australian Open while suffering from back pain. She was recommended not to sit during the breaks by her physical therapist just to prevent her back from spasming.

When asked if the back pain was the reason behind her not being able to sit down throughout the tournament, Collins said, “Yeah it was the reason why I wasn’t sitting down the whole tournament. It was actually recommended by one of the physical therapists just to keep my back from spasming.”

Collins added that she will continue to consult more specialists and try to work with them and come up with similar strategies that could help improve her physical game. She said, “I am hoping that these strategies and techniques are going to help me move forward into the events at Dubai and Doha.”

Collins’s grit and determination is commendable. She fought against the odds at the Australian Open and made it into the finals. Ash Barty was living undefeatable and hadn’t lost a single set throughout the tournament. However, Collins challenged the world No.1 and brought her to a stage she had never been in throughout the tournament.
