In the latest interview, Tommy Robredo made sumptuous praise on the efforts of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as he praised them to be the cause of tennis to be a much-celebrated sport in the modern era. It was noted by the Spaniard that the prize money of the tournaments has gravely increased over the period and was of the belief that it was mainly due to the unmatched amount of popularity of fans and sponsors brought by these champions.
Roberto made it public that he plans to retire from professional tennis in the coming Barcelona Open, after marking his 24 years of service on the ATP tour. In his interview with the Spanish daily newspaper Diario AS, Robredo reflected that he had no regrets about the career he made In tennis.
“Without ( Rafa), perhaps I would have won a few more games, but that is only a matter of sport. I am calm because I gave that one hundred percent, and that is the most important thing,” he said.
The 39-year-old jokingly remarked that he would have won a few more matches if it was not for Nadal. In the grand scheme of things, world No. 343 was ready to let it go since what the 21- time grand slam champion did was far more important.

It was clearly stated by the former world no.5 that he did not think that his career would have been more prosperous in the absence of Mallorca. In contrast, Robredo honored Nadal for inserting more interest in tennis in his home country- which was also beneficial for his own career as well.
As quoted by Robredo, “No, (my career has not been harmed by coinciding with Rafa’s). Its all been for the best. That means that in Spain there is more talk about tennis (thanks to him),” and “ thanks to him, there are more tournaments and sponsors that come to Spain. Everything goes up ( because of him ).
Although it is true that Tommy Robredo would have won more matches if it was for Rafael Nadal, in all the seven meetings were seeded.
