In 2021, Novak Djokovic had one of the best seasons in recent tennis history. He shattered numerous records throughout the season and won a whopping 6 titles out of which 3 were grand slams.

He started the year by defending his Australian Open title after beating Daniil Medvedev in the final. He then had a great clay-court season where he won a title in Belgrade before Roland Garros. He then won the French Open where he defeated the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal in the semifinal and then came from two sets down to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

He then followed it up with a dream outing at Wimbledon and won the title after beating Matteo Berrettini in the final. In doing so, he also leveled up with his arch-rivals- Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the all-time grand slam titles won list with 20 majors.

He was then chasing history at the US Open. Djokovic was eyeing to become the second man in tennis history to complete a calendar slam in the open era. But unfortunately, he lost the US Open Final to Daniil Medvedev. A few weeks later, he also won the Paris Masters and finished the season as the World No.1 for a record 7th time.
