Alex de Minaur stormed into the fourth round of Australian Open 2022 for the first time ever, as he stormed past Pablo Andujar in straight sets in the third round encounter. The Australian was dominant right from the start, as he gave his opponent no chance whatsoever.

Alex de Minaur won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in just about two hours to march into the fourth round of his home slam. The Australian has dropped just one set in the tournament so far, which was in the first match against Lorenzo Musetti on Tuesday.

Alex de Minaur served 8 aces during the match, as he won 61% of his points on first serve. Meanwhile, Andujar was impressive on his first serve, winning almost 80% of his points on first serve. However, he was impressive on his second serve, as he held his nerve during crucial moments.

Alex de Minuar stated that it was exciting to play during the night session at the Rod Laver Arena. Even Rod Laver was among the attendance on Saturday for the fourth round encounter. He also spoke about the electrifying atmosphere, as the home fans backed Minaur.

“It’s pretty exciting to play here on Rod Laver Arena in front of Rod Laver himself. I love playing here. The atmosphere is electric – there is no place I’d rather be. I’m in my home Slam doing what I love. I’m living my dream,” said Minaur.

Next up, Alex de Minaur faces the Italian, Jannik Sinner in the fourth round clash. Sinner, seeded 11th at Australian Open 2022 escaped a scare from Taro Daniel, as he won in four sets, after dropping the third set. The Italian has been pretty comprehensive in his performances so far, as he won his first two round matches in straight sets.
