Chasing her second consecutive WTA 1000 title, Iga Swiatek is definitely one of the best players on the WTA tour currently. She is considered one of the most consistent one on tour and came ever so close to win her second major at Melbourne where she bowed out of the semifinal. At the Qatar Open, she won her second WTA 1000 title by dropping just one set.

This week at Indian Wells, she had to dig deep in the initial rounds where she got the better of the likes of Anhelina Kalinina, Clara Tauson and Angelique Kerber. In the quarterfinal, she blasted past Madison Keys before beating Simona Halep in the semifinal in straight sets 7-6(6),6-4.

As for Maria Sakkari, she has been in the form of her life too. She started the season with a couple of Round of 16 outings at the Adelaide International and the Australian Open. She then finished runner-up at the St. Petersburg Open and made it to the semifinals of the Qatar Open.

She got the better of Katerina Siniakova and Petra Kvitova in the opening rounds at Indian Wells and then eased past Elena Rybakina to make it to the last 4. In the semifinals, she managed to topple defending champion Paula Badosa in three sets 2-6,6-4,6-1.
