Rafael Nadal has been the best player this season so far. He is undefeated so far and has shown a lot of promise in his comeback run. He wasn’t even sure about his trip to Australia but eventually started the season in Melbourne by winning the Melbourne Summer Set event. He then stunned the world by winning the Australian Open- his record 21st grand slam title. After a couple of weeks off, he won the Mexican Open in Acapulco without dropping a set.

Things haven’t been easy for him at Indian Wells so far but he has managed to overcome every single hurdle. He defeated the likes of Sebastian Korda and Dan Evans in the early rounds before beating Reilly Opelka for a quarterfinal spot. In the last 8, he survived a tough test from Nick Kyrgios and defeated him in three sets 7-6(0),5-7,6-4.

Carlos Alcaraz is projected as the next big thing in tennis and rightly so, at an age of 18, he is already showing signs to be a great one. He pushed Matteo Berrettini to 5 sets in the third round of the Australian Open and then won his maiden ATP 500 title at Rio last month. This week in the Californian desert, he blasted past Mackenzie McDonald and Roberto Bautista Agut in the initial rounds before hammering Gael Monfils in the fourth round. Playing his first Masters quarterfinal, he blasted past defending champion Cameron Norrie in straight sets 6-4,6-3 to book a date with his idol, Nadal.
