“It is clear who has more big titles,” former World No.1 Ilie Nastase picks out THIS big 3 player as GOAT

Ilie Nastase and Rafael Nadal

Rafael NadalRoger Federer, and Novak Djokovic have dominated tennis for a long time now. Nearly 2 decades on, Nadal and Djokovic are still going strong despite Federer dropping off. Since the trio began their domination, no one except Andy Murray has been able to get to the top and win Grand Slams.

Such a level of dominance and prolonged success obviously leads to fierce competitiveness and discussion on whom among the three is the best. The discussion on who is the GOAT in tennis among Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic has been going on for a long while now, with every person having differing opinions.

Former World No.1 Ilie Nastase recently picked out who the GOAT of tennis is according to him among Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The Romanian thinks Rafael Nadal has the edge over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the GOAT debate since he now owns the all-time Grand Slam record. Nadal, 35, won a record 21st Grand Slam title after beating Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final.

Djokovic didn’t get a chance to compete at the Australian Open after the Australian authorities canceled his visa. Meanwhile, Federer – who underwent knee surgery in August – wasn’t ready to return to action at Melbourne Park.

Rafael Nadal currently leads the way in terms of Grand Slam titles at the moment with 21, with both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer tied at 20 titles apiece. According to Nastase, Rafa leads the race for being the GOAT as he has more big titles. However, he also conceded that there are many more factors that one needs to take into consideration during the discussion, such as Roger Federer’s immense talent.

“It is clear that if the question is who has more big titles, the answer is Nadal. If we talk about the best ever there are other factors. Roger Federer has impressive talent…But there is no doubt that Rafa has 21 Grand Slams and Federer and Djokovic have not,” Nastase told Marca.
