Ons Jabeur made a strong start to her Chicago campaign this week as she demolished Su-Wei Hsieh 6-1, 6-0 in just 46 minutes in their 2nd round clash as Ons had received a bye in the first round due to her seeding. Jabeur is back on the tour for the first time since her 3rd round exit at the 2021 US Open going out against Elise Mertens.

Jessica Pegula was made to work hard in her 2nd round clash against Germany’s Andrea Petkovic but came out on top in their 1.5-hour clash defeating the German 6-2, 7-5 to advance into the Round of 16. Pegula had earlier defeated Poland’s Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-0 in the 1st round making a good start to the week in Chicago.

Ons will come into the tie with a career Hardcourt record of 125-96 and is 18-10 on the surface for the season while having a 41-16 record for the season across all surfaces. Jessica will take the court with a career Hardcourt record of 146-88 and has a season record of 26-10 on the surface while having an overall surface record for the season at 36-17.

Looking at the numbers and considering their recent form, both the players could play out a thriller. While Pegula will look to continue her winning streak over the Tunisian, Ons will be motivated to register her 1st win over the American. Nevertheless, Jabeur remains the favourite for the tie for her slightly better consistency and form.

Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win in three-sets.
