Sebastian Korda is another upcoming tennis talent from the USA who has already started to show his potential at various tournaments on the ATP Tour.
Korda born on 5th July 2000 is the son of former tennis players Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtova both of who represented Czechoslovakia. Petr also represented the Czech Republic in the later stages of his career.
Korda turned Pro in 2018 at the age of 18 making his main draw debut at the 2018 New York Open. He had his major breakthrough moment at the 2020 French Open when he made it till the 4th round of the Grand Slam after starting from the qualifying rounds and was defeated by defending and eventual champion Rafael Nadal.
Korda comes from a family of athletes. While both of his parents were professional players, both of his elder sisters are professional Golfers on the LPGA Tour. Korda himself played golf for a long time before switching to tennis and has been guided by his father Petr who has been his coach since his childhood.

Petr Korda is a former World No. 2 and winner of the 1998 Australian Open. He had reached the finals of the 1992 French Open as well in the Singles category after having finished as the runner-up in the Doubles Event of the 1990 French Open. He also reached the quarter-finals of the US Open in 1995 and 1997 and also the quarter-finals of the 1998 Wimbledon.
Petr retired in 2005 from tennis when Sebastian was 5 years old. Sebastian decided to switch to tennis at the age of 9 and since then has been guided by his parents, primarily Petr who acts as his son’s coach. The duo has been together throughout Sebastian’s career when he won the 2018 Australian Open Boys’ title, 20 years after his father won the Men’s title.
Petr also oversaw his son’s debut at the Wimbledon Championships in Wimbledon 2021 where Sebastian became the youngest American to reach the 4th round since Andy Roddick made it till the semi-finals of the 2003 Wimbledon. While Petr made it to the quarter-finals, Sebastian has already reached Round 4 in his debut at the Grand Slam and might break his father’s record also.
