Up against Anhelina Kalinina in the quarter-finals, the Estonian won the tie 6-3, 6-1 in just 62 minutes to move into her 5th final of the season. With a spot in the 2021 WTA Finals up for grab, Kontaveit would need to win the title to seal her spot in the Year-End championships to be held in a few days in Mexico.

Rebecca Peterson makes it to her 3rd semi-final of the season as she defeats Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in 1 hour and 57 minutes. This was the first time this week when the Swede has dropped a set, winning both of her previous round matches in straight-sets. A good run has already seen her rank jump more than 20 places and she will be aiming to finish the season further ahead in the rankings.
